About Us:

The Age-Friendly Focused Information and Resources Mapping (AFFIRM) project began in 2023 with a U.S. Administration on Community Living grant. The overarching goal of this project, led by Mississippi State University’s Social Science Research Center, was to collaborate with local, regional, and national partners to increase access to health-related information and resources for Older Mississippians and their caregivers. We are an interdisciplinary group of social science researchers with older adults and community leaders as key stakeholders.

As part of this grant, the group developed and fielded survey instruments and conducted focus groups to determine the best forms of communication and the preferred methods of communication for reaching older adults aged 50+ in Mississippi. The World Health Organization’s (WHO) age-friendly framework was instrumental in scanning and mapping resources and developing content.
